Richfield is in Summit County, which makes Akron less a service area than a neighborhood. Our office is about 20 miles north of downtown Akron on I-77, and Summit and Portage County practices have been part of our client base since the company started in 1987.
Akron is also the most interesting dental market in Ohio right now, because it just became a dental education town. That changes the talent pipeline and the technology conversation here in a way that has not fully landed yet.

Bitonte College of Dentistry at NEOMED — Northeast Ohio’s new dental school
The Bitonte College of Dentistry at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown — about 14 miles east of Akron — matriculated its inaugural class of 52 students in August 2025, after earning initial CODA accreditation in 2024. It is the first public dental college in Northeast Ohio. Much of the internet still says Ohio has two dental schools; as of 2025 it has three, and the newest one is in Akron’s backyard. For local practices that means a nearer pipeline for associates and hygiene relationships over the coming years.
