How We Actually Cover Toledo

Toledo is about two hours from our Richfield office, effectively a straight line west on the Ohio Turnpike — our office sits at Turnpike exit 173. Northwest Ohio is a remote-first market for us, with on-site visits scheduled for buildouts, hardware and projects.

Toledo has a particular character worth naming: it is a major health system headquarters town without a dental school, which makes the local dental community more self-contained than Cleveland or Columbus. Practices here tend to be long-tenured and vendor relationships run deep — which is exactly the environment where a generalist IT provider who cannot talk to Patterson or Henry Schein causes the most friction.

What Makes Toledo Different

No dental school — but real dental education

Toledo has no dental school, and anyone telling you otherwise is wrong. What the University of Toledo does have is a Department of Dentistry running two ADA-accredited residency programs — general dentistry and pediatric dentistry — plus a 3+4 dual-degree pathway that sends students on to Case Western’s School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland. So Toledo trains dentists without granting the degree, and the pipeline runs back through our home market.

Greater Toledo Dental Society

The Greater Toledo Dental Society has served Northwest Ohio since 1889 and covers an unusually wide footprint — Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Williams and Wood counties — as the local component of the Ohio Dental Association and the ADA. Note the name: it is the Greater Toledo Dental Society, not the Toledo Dental Society.

ProMedica is headquartered here

ProMedica runs 13 hospitals, roughly 17,000 employees and 332 care sites serving some 4.7 million patients a year — from a headquarters on the downtown Toledo riverfront. Few metros this size host a health system of that scale at their center, and it shapes the referral and employment landscape that local dental practices operate inside.
